About Amelia
Psychology was the one subject at school where I'd lose track of time. With an A* at A-Level plus a degree from Bath University later and now training as a counselling psychologist I still find it genuinely fascinating and I am very passionate about the subject. I love bringing that enthusiasm into my lessons to make learning enjoyable, it's such an absorbing subject to dig into.
I came to Psychology from an unusual route- I played professional tennis for six years before studying, so I know a fair bit about focus, nerves and performing when it counts, which is useful when exams loom. Alongside tutoring I work with children in a primary school, so I'm patient, adaptable and comfortable meeting each student where they are.
What I care about most is that students leave feeling more capable than when they arrived: clearer on the subject, calmer about the exam, and maybe even a bit more curious about how the mind works.

I teach GCSE and A-Level Psychology, and one thing I pay close attention to is exam technique. In Psychology you can understand a topic well and still lose marks because the answer wasn't structured the way the mark scheme expects. Knowing the content and knowing how to answer the question are two different skills, and the second is where marks are won, so we work on both.
Each lesson is online and usually an hour, focused on one topic at a time so it never feels overwhelming, and I bring in real past-paper questions and mark schemes so the exam format feels familiar long before you sit it. Between sessions I'll suggest a small bit of practice to keep things ticking over.
Lessons suit anyone taking GCSE or A-Level Psychology, whether you're aiming for a top grade or just want to feel steadier and more confident with the subject.

I've played for years but plateaued and a few sessions with Amelia made more difference than anything had in ages. You can tell she's competed at a high level, she suggested some things to focus on in my forehand that really helped and I'm starting to feel really good about my game and its improvements. Sessions are relaxed but properly focused. Really pleased I found her.
I was an LTA sponsored junior but have played mostly socially since my teens. I’m now 33 and wanted to play more competitively. Amelia ironed out some serious gremlins in my backhand and spotted the fix within a few rallies. She is thoughtful, kind and fun to be on court with! Couldn’t recommend her more highly for anyone looking to improve their game!
I started lessons with Amelia as a complete beginner, nervous I’d be too uncoordinated to ever hit a ball properly. Six weeks in, I’m rallying with confidence and actually looking forward to every session! :)
What sets Amelia apart is her background as a former professional player, she genuinely understands the game at a level most coaches don’t, but she never makes you feel out of your depth. She breaks everything down into small, achievable steps and adjusts her approach depending on how you learn. My serve was a mess when we started; she spotted exactly what I was doing wrong in one session and gave me a simple drill that clicked immediately.
She’s also just lovely to spend an hour with; patient, encouraging, and full of energy without ever being intense about it. One rainy session we couldn’t get on court, so she took me through footwork and technique off-court instead, and I still left having learned loads.
If you’re on the fence, book the lesson. Even if you’re picking up a racket for the first time like i was or trying to sharpen up your game, you’ll be in brilliant hands.See more recommendations
