About Anna
I'm Anna, a Master's student at SOAS University of London having graduated with a BSc in Psychology at Newcastle University.
I'm keen to help students with sixth form and undergraduate work. I have experience tutoring younger students in school and leading projects at university. My greatest interest is research and I have worked on numerous projects throughout my degree, including an internship with Cornell University and developing an experiment for my dissertation. I've built advanced skills in academic reading and writing, statistics, referencing and study design, which are applicable to a variety of subjects.
I've grown to enjoy academic work, but I found school (and some of my undergraduate degree) uninspiring and struggled to remember taught content. My approach to teaching, therefore, is to make everything as engaging as possible, working in whatever style the student prefers. I'm happy to do multiple short sessions rather than long ones, turn memorising into games, apply theory to real-world examples - whatever works!

My approach to teaching is flexible and student-led. I am committed to helping students find learning methods that best suit them, creating skills that will persist long-term.
I can offer tuition in the following:
- A-level Psychology (AQA only) and English Language, having achieved an A* in both;
- University preparation, including an introduction to research methods, statistics and academic writing, applicable to a variety of degrees;
- Support for Psychology undergraduates, including statistics, R and dissertation writing, having received a 1st Class in Advanced Statistics and a nomination for a national award for my dissertation.
My own learning has been greatly impacted by my ADHD and dyslexia, and I owe much of my academic success to tutors and teachers who helped me understand my own mind and find strategies that worked with it, not against. This is something I want to pass forwards, using understanding stemming both from my own experiences and my knowledge of Psychology, giving all students the support they need to flourish and - hopefully! - enjoy their learning.
