About Henley
My journey in programming began with curiosity about problem-solving and creating digital solutions, leading me to pursue a Bachelor’s in Computer Science. Over 9 years of teaching, I have guided students from diverse backgrounds to understand coding concepts, develop algorithmic thinking, and complete practical projects. My teaching style is structured, encouraging, and interactive, allowing learners to progress at their own pace while mastering core principles.
I believe every student benefits from lessons that are clear, engaging, and personalised. I use demonstrations, examples, and step-by-step guidance to support learning, while encouraging students to experiment, ask questions, and develop independent problem-solving skills. Patience, feedback, and encouragement are central to my approach, ensuring that learners build confidence alongside technical ability.
Outside the classroom, I explore emerging programming technologies, frameworks, and project ideas to enrich my teaching. Seeing students evolve from uncertainty to creating functional programmes and confidently applying coding concepts is immensely rewarding. My goal is to empower learners with practical skills, logical reasoning, and creativity, preparing them to approach programming challenges successfully in both academic and real-world contexts.

Programming becomes intuitive when students understand the logic and creativity behind code. My lessons focus on Python, Java, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and real-world software projects. I emphasise clear explanations, hands-on exercises, and stepwise progression to ensure learners develop both theoretical understanding and practical skills. Each session encourages experimentation, debugging, and problem-solving, fostering confidence and independence in a supportive environment.
I adapt lessons to students’ experience and learning goals. Beginners start with variables, loops, and basic syntax, gradually building towards small programmes and structured thinking. Intermediate learners tackle object-oriented concepts, functions, modular programming, and application building. Advanced students explore algorithm optimisation, project planning, and API integration, with guidance on best practices, debugging strategies, and real-world applications. Every class incorporates feedback, practical challenges, and discussion to deepen understanding.
Learning programming nurtures analytical thinking, logical reasoning, and creative problem-solving. My aim is to create a motivating, patient environment where students feel empowered to experiment, learn from mistakes, and develop lasting coding skills. By linking theory to practical projects, learners gain confidence, technical competence, and the ability to approach software development thoughtfully and independently.
