About Alexandre
Processing is an open and free computational tool created to make programming more suited to the needs of people with an interest in visual arts and design. It can be used to automate tasks at scale or for exploratory, experimental purposes. I usually use a Processing variant with Python syntax, an accessible programming language that is increasingly used in numerous domains. The course allows a first contact with programming aimed at the production of vector images and raster graphics, 2D or 3D, static, animated or interactive. In about 30 hours it is possible to present the following subjects:
Design of basic shapes and graphic attributes; Global variables and simple animations; Variations with conditional execution and randomness; Interaction with mouse, keyboard; Functions and recursion; Coordinate transformations: Displacement and rotation; Grids of elements (rows and columns) with repetition loops; Introduction to object orientation; Pixel manipulation of an image; External vector resources and typography; Reading external data and manipulating files; Export of images and vector formats; Third party libraries and shared code; Alternative sensors and interfaces with Arduino.

I have a degree in architecture and urbanism from USP and a master's degree from Unicamp focused on teaching programming in a visual context. I have been teaching for more than 20 years, exploring creative methodologies with audiences of all ages, and teaching disciplines at different colleges.
