I know Prashanth for more than 5 years. Prashanth and I worked at the same Lab during our grad school. Prashanth is very knowledgeable in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and mathematics. Prashanth and I attended a 5-year joint bachelor and master’s program together in Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur with one of the most rigorous curricula. What sets Prashanth apart is his philosophy of approaching each course with an inquisitive mindset and curiosity to grasp the fundamentals of the subject. He also approached his research objectives with a vision, and ability to relate his work to the bigger picture and a drive to expand his knowledge of several domains quickly and effectively. His strong foundation in the core mechanical engineering courses helped him build a strong foundation for his research work beginning as early as his sophomore year. During his master’s program at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and University of Alberta, he took the role of a teaching assistant and conducted laboratory as well as tutorial sessions involving hands on demonstration and discussing theoretical problems. His teaching style involves a noteworthy attention to detail. For instance, during laboratory sessions on teaching lathe machining operation to 3rd year undergraduate students, Prashanth discussed not only the mechanics of the machining process but also the tool design and material considerations that play key role in determining the machining ability and determining the machining parameters. Over the duration of his teaching roles, Prashanth had maintained excellent performance and consistently received appreciative feedback from his students. He also took the initiative to explain the course assignments with a lot of real-world scenarios and day-to-day examples during high meeting with students. I sincerely believe Prashanth is a very motivated and hardworking person and a brilliant teacher and can quickly learn different subjects. I highly recommend him for Superprof community.
