About Joshua
I have a B.M. in voice performance and pedagogy from Towson University (2013) and an M.M. in early music from The Longy School of Music (2016). I have been singing in Europe since 2018. I have worked as a soloist and ensemble singer with ensembles such as Ensemble 1684, Collegium Vocale Leipzig, Dresdner Kammerchor, and Bach Consort Leipzig. I am also a founding member of Vox Aurea, a new chamber ensemble led by Gerhard Polifka (assistant choir director of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin). I taught a thriving vocal and piano studio in Berlin (2019-2025) and I sat on the vocal faculty of the children’s radio choir (MDR Kinderchor) in Leipzig (2023-2025), and I am excited to bring my expertise to students in London!

I’m a professional singer offering voice lessons to students of all ages, from beginners to professionals. I offer 40 minute or 55 minute lessons, either scheduled one at a time or booked as a package with a discount.
My teaching is founded in the writings of historical and current vocal pedagogues and my years of study and work as a singer, and is informed by an understanding of anatomy and vocal function. I help my students to develop the skills and physical coordination to sing securely and with flexibility in all dynamics and registers, improve intonation, and navigate repertoire in a variety of styles (including classical, musical theatre, and some pop). I work closely with my students to set both long and short term goals based on their potential and developmental level and help them to create a plan for attaining those goals.
In addition to my work as a vocal instructor, I am a trained keyboardist (piano and harpsichord) and I also offer supplemental lessons to singers and instrumentalists who would like to improve their keyboard skills for accompanying themselves and students, better their understanding of harmony and counterpoint for writing ornamentation and cadenzas, and improve their ear when practising and learning repertoire.
