About Martin
I've worked since secondary school as a professional musician, and it's always been one of my aims to help my students experience the pleasure that performing music brings to musicians and audiences. It involves a wide range of technical, mathematical, psychological and creative skills, and there's considerable evidence that music performance has a positive influence on brain development. Many of my students have moved on to professional music, but almost all of them have continued to perform music in many different settings.

I work with students to help them gain technical skills, reading skills, and skills specific to the styles of music they want to pursue (improvisation, tonal and dynamic control, arrangement, composition). Lessons are normally 30 to 45 minutes. I'm a professional musician with over 30 years experience as a teacher in schools in Melbourne (primary and secondary) as well as private students in Melbourne and Europe. I've taught many successful VCE students, including one winner of a Premier's Award for top results.
