About Andile
Andile Qongqo is a South African Afro-jazz pianist, composer, music director, recording artist, and music educator based in Bloemfontein. He began playing piano at the age of 15, in his pursuit of music he earned a Licentiate diploma in Jazz Piano with distinction from Trinity College London. Since 2004, Qongqo has taught piano and music theory at the Free State Musicon. He has performed with notable artists like Angelique Kidjo, Elvis Blue, Gloria Bosman, Tom Knific & Mlungisi Gegana, directed musical productions including “Sophiatown The Musical.” His debut solo album, Q Signature (2018), received four Mzantsi Jazz Award nominations. In 2021, he released Afro Qeys, a trio-format album celebrating African rhythms through piano.
