About Sylvia
By day, I am a working professional in the private field and by night, I am a homebody who loves animals and DIY home improvement projects. My fiancé and I have two dogs - Penny and Ramona - and two cats - Mortimer and June. We own our own home in a small town in Western Prince Edward Island.
Throughout my time spent in university, I volunteered as a competitive improv coach where my teams competed in the Canadian Improv Games. This is where I realized how much I valued working with others and helping them to achieve their goals. After this I went on to begin tutoring my peers in essay mechanics across a variety of disciplines.

Having not been a 'natural' student once upon a time myself, I have a unique understanding of what it takes to make someone else feel comfortable in their learning journey. As a tutor, I am there to guide my students to success, and create a safe space where they can learn from their failures. I build this approach into my lesson plan, whereby I make sure that by the end of the session, they leave feeling more confident having achieved small goals that we will set together during the sessions.
Students will experience lessons meant to build confidence surrounding their understanding of their chosen subject. My methodology includes a combination of discussion and demonstration to encourage students to use the tools already at their fingertips to become better students.
I am open to teaching all age groups that require assistance seeing as English and writing are a lifelong struggle for many individuals.
