About Oliver

Associate Lecturer for Game Design at University of the Arts London, with 4 years experience in the Games Industry, working from level design to prototype development. Part of several competitions and programmes, including Tranzfuser, UKIE’s Game of the Show, and London’s very own Bonus Stage.

About the lesson

I learnt by doing, so I teach by doing. In the past I have found that the best way to tackle something that you are struggling with is make something creative with it, as you get to learn it much more intimately. This combined with a structured approach to progress, I believe is the best way to learn.

Perfect! Our 10 year-old loves the classes - he describes them as "fun!", which is rare praise. Oliver let him guide the projects and he is developing games that interest him. It's just a great learning experience for him, I don't think he ever had so much fun studying, and that experience affects him beyond his coding skills and understanding how technologies work.

Perfect! Ollie has been a godsend for our son to advance his coding skills. He has designed a course that both respects the ideas our son has brought while building his knowledge around it through developing a thoughtful approach that is both challenging and enjoyable. Would recommend to anyone!

Harry is a good listener and a quick learner. He is able to form a plan for the code is needs to write, and then write code from this plan. This is an important skill to have when he does independent work! Well Done!

One of the most notable times Oliver has really excelled while working together was when we tutored at the University College London Hospital, teaching children on terminal wards that were unable to attend education the fundamentals of game design and programming. The tools and techniques Oliver used and created to tutor the children was truly amazing, he is an honour to our craft.
