About Maria

My passion for movement ignited in a small Portuguese city at the age of seven. I quickly fell in love with dance, and my commitment to training propelled me towards a future on the stage.

At fifteen, I relocated to the UK to study at the prestigious English National Ballet School. There, under the guidance of exceptional staff and teachers, I refined my skills. Later, I shifted my focus to contemporary dance, completing my BA degree at the esteemed Central School of Ballet. During this time, I had the privilege of touring England with the school company.

At eighteen, I embarked on a new adventure in Budapest, working with the Budapest Dance Theatre. This experience exposed me to incredible choreographers and provided valuable insights into the real world of dance. Inspired by this, I delved into the freelance realm, collaborating with renowned artists and even journeying to the USA to work alongside Jessica Lang and dancers from Alvin Ailey.

Throughout my journey, I discovered the profound benefits of yoga, both physically and spiritually. It has become an integral part of my life, offering balance, connection, and presence. Today, I am a professional contemporary dancer, ballet instructor, and yoga/meditation teacher. But above all, I consider myself a perpetual student, constantly seeking new knowledge and growth.

About the lesson

As a dedicated Ballet teacher, my passion lies in providing exceptional private lessons to aspiring dancers. With years of experience and a deep understanding of dance in general, I strive to create a nurturing and inspiring environment for my students to develop their skills and express their artistry.

In my private ballet lessons, I prioritize individualized attention, tailoring each session to the specific needs and goals of my students. I believe that personalized instruction is essential in unlocking the full potential of every dancer, allowing them to grow at their own pace and overcome any challenges they may face along the way.

My teaching methodology revolves around a strong foundation in classical ballet technique, emphasizing proper alignment, strength, flexibility, and musicality. I also prepare students for RAD exam and auditions for professionals schools and companies.

A private lesson goes from 1h30 to 3h max and I am open to all levels and ages.

I have a BA (Hons) in Professional Dance through Central School of Ballet. I have worked since then with different companies and choreographers like Jessica Lang (New York), Olivier Coeffard (NDT), Budapest Dance Theatre, etc.

As a private ballet teacher, I am committed to the growth and success of my students. I am honored to guide them on their ballet journey, witnessing their progress, and helping them reach their full potential as dancers. Together, we will embark on a transformative experience, where passion, dedication, and artistry converge to create extraordinary performances.
