About Mpho

Mpho Buti Maifadi is a professional choreographer, dance teacher, theatre practitioner, director and physical theatre performer with more than 15 years of experience in the performing arts industry.
As a passionate dance educator, Mpho uses dance as a powerful tool for creative expression, cultural storytelling, discipline, confidence and personal development. His teaching approach combines African Contemporary Dance, Contemporary Dance, Afrofusion, Spiritual African Movement and Physical Theatre.
Growing up in the dusty streets of Hammanskraal, Mpho developed a deep connection with African stories, culture and community. This background continues to influence his artistic practice and teaching philosophy. He believes that every young person has a unique story and talent that can be developed through the arts.
Mpho is the Founder and Artistic Director of Motho-Pele Arts and Talents, where he works to create opportunities for young people and aspiring performers to access professional dance training, performance opportunities and creative development.
His professional experience includes creating, choreographing, directing and performing in productions such as The Spiritual Massacre, Fadi – The Spiritual Movement, My Richest Yard and Marikana – The Musical. His work has been presented in professional theatre and festival environments, including the South African State Theatre and other performance platforms.
As a teacher, Mpho focuses on developing the whole dancer—technique, musicality, physical strength, creativity, discipline, confidence and stage presence. His classes encourage students not only to learn choreography, but also to understand the meaning behind movement and use their bodies to communicate stories.
His vision is to empower the next generation of African dancers and performers by bringing professional dance training closer to communities and creating a platform where talent can grow, stories can be told and dreams can become reality.
