About Deya

I am Deya, cellist. I have a European and American music education. Master's degree in Music performance. I studied in Indiana University School of Music in the class of the world-renowned cellist and pedagogue Prof. Janos Starker, also University of Central Arkansas (Prof Felice Farrell), Boston University, Louisiana State University etc.
I have won 2nd prize at the European National competition " Sv. Obretenov " and 3rd prizes of International competition " Usti na Orlitzi " and Beethoven all strings club competition in TN.
I have more than 25 years teaching and performing experience.
I have taught private cello lessons for after school programmes of private schools. Also coached group cello classes in youth orchestra organisations. I have prepared students for their college auditions, concerts and competitions. I enjoy very much helping any student to achieve their goal, and enjoy the experience of learning how to play the cello and learn and language and the beauty of the art or music.

About the lesson

I have taught private cello lessons for after school programmes of private schools. Also coached group cello classes in youth orchestra organisations. I have prepared students for their college auditions, concerts and competitions. I enjoy very much helping any student to achieve their goal, and enjoy the experience of learning how to play the cello and learn and language and the beauty of the art or music.
My method of teaching is strictly individual for every student. First, the student has to know all about the basic techniques of playing the instrument. I do use scale books, etude books. I also find very useful Suzuki books. Depending on each student's goals we make a plan and choose the repertoire we will be working on. Also, I do teach all my students basic music theory, solfeggio and music history, which is so important for the overall development of each person who would like to study music.
Once we start lessons, I do encourage every student to ask questions, even outside of our lesson time if they feel they do not understand some of the music material.
