About Derek
I thoroughly enjoy helping students of all ages, fostering a professional, nurturing and fun environment while also striving for growth and improvement. Outside of the studio, I am also a certified swim and National Lifeguard instructor which has given me experience that translates to teaching my profession of ballet. I personally was trained by teachers from a variety of methodologies from Vaganova, to Cecchetti and Balanchine.

Willing to work with students to identify areas of focus and make personalized lesson plans accordingly (floor barre, class, variation coaching, etc.). Able to train Ballet fundamentals such as strength, flexibility, musicality, as well as create more advanced exercises that focus on technique and artistry. Certified with High Five Principles of Healthy Childhood Development, I am comfortable and familiar working with children, but also am able to teach adolescents, and adults of all ages! I bring a fun and easygoing dynamic to class (thanks to my experience as a swim instructor in a municipality) but am willing and able to give specific and detailed feedback.
