About Imani
My professional journey as a professional dancer in NYC began as a Contemporary Dancer, and then I transitioned to Classical Ballet which is my life passion.
I have been fortunate to perform with such companies as The Metropolitan Opera, Vissi Dance Theatre, Underground Dance Project, The Lady Dames, Urban Bush Women with The Mozambique National Dance Company as well as ballet performances with Open World Dance Foundation and Laura Alonso Ballet in Havana, Cuba.
My classical ballet training is based in the Russian and Cuban Classical Ballet pedagogies.
I have spent over a decade in mentorship with an esteemed former director of the Vaganova Ballet School in St. Petersburg, Russia and I have also lived and trained in the Cuban Classical Ballet Methodology as well in Havana, Cuba.
I hold certification to teach Pre Ballet, Levels 1, 2 and 3 from The Bolshoi Ballet Teachers Training Curriculum used at The Bolshoi Academy in Moscow, Russia.
As a former foster child, I am passionate to bring training to those who may not have the opportunity and a portion of all income goes towards tuition-free programs for children in the social service system.

I am a passionate professional dancer who began my training later than usual — as an adult — and still became a professional! YAY!
This gives me the experience and perspective needed to help you no matter your age or prior training.
I love to help my students craft their dreams into goals that can be achieved!
Through my experience, knowledge and observation I can develop a strategy for your goals that will help you achieve more than you think is possible and I will be there to motivate you all along the way.
My classes are naturally focused on strong foundational work with hands-on correction for in-studio work — and detailed illustration and explanation for online work.
Ballet Foundations and Conditioning are paramount as this is where the improvement is made and this is also what is most missing in the open classes that many students find themselves in.
