About Pierre

Whether it's homework help or your own independent study, I make French into something you or your child can master. Here's how.

The secret to learning anything is to take any new information you receive and to relate it to what you already know. That's how we make sense of things, including the French language.

Far too many students of French fall behind because they are expected to learn words, sounds, grammatical rules, etc. with no reference point. They aren't prompted to connect this information to what they already know, easily forget, and become discouraged. This is true for both adults and kids.

My method of tutoring focuses first on what the student already knows, and then, we use this knowledge to expand the student's abilities. To build a skyscraper, you need a firm foundation.

We also look at the end goal: what do I want to learn? What conversations do I want to be able to have? Which grammatical concepts do I want to better understand? Learning French can be tough, but we use both what we know and what we want to reach as encouragement to keep pushing forward. And before you know it, the student starts to say, "le français c'est facile!" (French is easy!)

About the lesson

My method uses what we already know in order to make leaps and bounds in mastering the French language.

Whether you are or your child is a beginner student or more intermediate, we will tailor each lesson to what YOU want to learn next. Even if it's assigned homework help, we will focus on what is most important to you.

I put a large emphasis on showing examples to make sense of concepts, as well as letting you / your child practice the skill until mastered, while I guide along the way.
