About Nahid

I am a grade 10 student who goes to a private high school in Canada. I am currently about to become an online literacy tutor. I earned honorable mentions in French, mathematics, and ethics and religious culture, in 2019. I can speak French, English, and Persian. I have experience in tutoring French with kids for about 2 years. I am in the English, math, and science advanced program. I like to tutor because I encourage students to excel in their education and I help them increase their skills. I want to make a difference in someone’s life and get a feeling of fulfillment in seeing them succeed and get more confident.

About the lesson

I would want my student to be excited about understanding the subject and be curious to deeply integrate new content and think about how they can get better. I would encourage them to always ask their questions. I want the student to feel like it’s a safe space to also talk about mental health and ask for advice because it has a huge impact on learning. The students should always speak up and tell me if I did something wrong. I would start very easy and always encourage him/her when they progress. I will remind him/her that making mistakes is a part of life and it makes us better. For my side, I understand that every student learns differently and it can take more time for some of them. It’s totally normal and I am committed to helping them with their confidence too. I would also slowly try to make them go out of their comfort zone.
If the student doesn’t understand what I'm teaching, I will obviously change it and if he still doesn’t get it, I will try to put him in a real life context. Sometimes, it’s also about our brains being full of information. If possible, I will move on and come back to it. If not, I will ask him to explain the problem from his point of view.
