In my fashion design class, I prioritise simplicity and hands-on learning. We can look into the world of fabrics, understanding their textures and qualities, which are fundamental to crafting any garment.
Current and future trends are explored organically, encouraging students to keep a keen eye on what's happening in the industry, providing inspiration for their designs. I emphasise the essence of function and purpose in design; students learn that every function should serve a purpose, marrying aesthetics with practicality.
When it comes to sportswear, we delve into the specific sport, researching its movements and requirements. This knowledge becomes the bedrock of our designs, ensuring they're not just stylish but also tailored for optimal performance. We start the design process with brainstorming sessions, encouraging creativity to flow freely. From these ideas, we guide students in translating concepts into tangible designs, and eventually, into detailed manufacture-ready tech packs.
I believe in a flexible learning approach; my classes can extend as needed. The longer we invest, the deeper we dive into the intricate world of innovative design, allowing students to absorb foster their growth as a designer.
