About NIYAS FAZAl

I hold both BALLB and LLM degrees, providing a strong academic foundation. My dual role as a practicing advocate and a legal textbook author sets my instruction apart. I bring direct experience from managing disputes and drafting legal documents into the classroom. Because I actively author legal texts and draft my own comprehensive lecture notes, my students receive highly structured, accurate, and logically arranged study materials that directly aid in university examinations and legal practice.

These classes are specifically designed for undergraduate law students (BALLB, LLB), postgraduate students (LLM), and individuals looking to strengthen their understanding of substantive and procedural criminal law for academic or professional purposes.

I cover the complete the full criminal jurisprudence, focusing on both substantive and procedural law. A significant aspect of this work involves navigating the recent statutory transition from the established frameworks of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and the Indian Evidence Act (IEA) to the newly introduced Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). Alongside these core legislations, my focus also extends to special and minor criminal statutes. This includes managing proceedings under specific legislative frameworks such as the POCSO Act, POSH Act, NDPS Act, and the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act, as well as addressing financial criminal matters under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.

My teaching method bridges the gap between academic theory and courtroom practice. As a law instructor and active advocate, my approach is grounded in doctrinal analysis. I focus on teaching students how to strictly read statutory provisions, interpret legislative intent, and critically analyze judicial precedents. The methodology relies on a deep understanding of the bare acts combined with comparative case law study, ensuring students grasp both the letter and the application of the law.

A typical class starts with the bare acts. We break down specific sections of the criminal codes so you can clearly understand the legal definitions and the exact nature of the offence. Next, we look at important court judgments to see how the higher courts actually apply these laws in real life. After that, I bring in my experience as a practicing advocate to show you how these concepts work in a real courtroom, covering court procedures and rules of evidence. We end the session by working through practice scenarios and clearing any doubts you might have.
