About Deborah

I'm a highly creative person who believes in the importance of knowledge and education. I got my love of English from a wonderful, passionate teacher, who made learning fun and inclusive. We're not all academics; textbooks don't work for everyone. I learnt most of my English by speaking with English people, listening to English music and watching English films (and Eastenders!). My goal is to do the same for you. Let’s find out what interests you, and make it French!

Bonjour! I'm Deborah.

I'm a native French speaker, living in the UK for 28 years, and I'm here to help you actually speak and enjoy your French - not to lecture you from a textbook!

I call myself a friendly language mentor and conversation partner. With an extensive background as a classroom Teaching Assistant and Mentor, I'm a great listener, highly patient, and excellent at helping people overcome the fear of speaking a new language. I also hold an up-to-date, enhanced DBS certificate.

How we can work together:

Real-World Conversations: want to practise speaking about your day, your hobbies, or travel plans? We can chat in a relaxed, zero-pressure environment where it’s completely safe to make mistakes.

Support for What You're Already Learning: are you already taking a French course, studying for a school exam, or using an app? I can help you untangle your homework, explain tricky grammar rules in simple terms, and practise what you've already been taught.

Diverse Learning Needs: Because of my school experience, I am highly skilled at supporting people of all ages who learn differently or find traditional classrooms stressful.

If you want to build your confidence, improve your pronunciation, and practise French the way it’s actually spoken in France, I would love to support you.
