I use a 20/80 approach where 20% of the lesson is focused on the content or skills needed by using multisensory lesson design to cater for different learning styles ( the more senses used the better the retention). Then there is a 80% diffused phase where learners need to practise and apply the content covered. The 80% includes a consolidation phase where there is a review phase to see what was learned in a formative assessment manner.
