About Marcie
I am a political scientist (MA 2017) and I am a lawyer, currently non-practicing. I did an option in law and social justice as part of my JD. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to succeed and gain educationally.
My goal is to help you succeed in your courses regardless of who you are or where you come from. Whether that is citation software, or that PowerPoint from the prof you didn’t really understand, help with how to write a paper or exam preparation I would love to help.
I have experience proctoring exams for students with disabilities, so I am aware of accommodations on exams, which along with my critical disability studies course will allow me to hear what and how your disability affects your learning (if it does). I am open to students with neurodivergence as well.

I have an MA in Political Science (2017) in which I took the core courses in Canadian and Comparative Politics as well as one additional course in each field. I tutored during the first year of my MA. I loved passing the knowledge on, and would feel privileged to do so again.
I also took an MA level course in Critical Disability Studies. As part of this I learned theory regarding intersectionality, and can pass this knowledge on regardless of the course, if this is an area you are studying.
My minor in my BA was Women’s Studies and I took three women in politics courses.
I have been the marker for two third year political science courses, so I know what is being looked for in a paper. The courses I marked were both third year courses. One was in Canadian political science and the other was on women in international relations. I can assist you with how to write better papers.
My minor in my BA was in women’s studies and I took three courses on women in politics, giving me strength in this area, along with my MA studies. I can tutor to the fourth year level in women in politics.
I have tutored a student in a first-year course on international relations. This is the highest level I can tutor at in international relations, with the exception of women and international relations.
I can tutor, up to and including the MA level, Canadian Political Science courses.
I can also tutor, up to the MA level, Comparative Political Theory. Additionally, I can tutor some other comparative courses, depending on the course topic.
My major research paper was in health policy and I can tutor in public policy as well.
I can help you break down what the material you are reading is teaching you. I can go over and explain professor PowerPoints. I can help you with structuring your papers and citing correctly. And I can help develop your exam skills so that you can write exams more confidently.
I am also aware of tools and technology that can help you in your studies and if you are having difficulty with the technology I can help with most types.
If you go to University of Ottawa I am up to date on services that the university offers to students, which can provide extra assistance to students.
I bring a winning combination of education and maturity to the position of tutor, as well as a wealth of knowledge.
Finally, I truly loved tutoring and would love to do more of it.
