About Rachel
Hello, I'm Rachel. I'm a trained teacher and primary carer to a lovely nonagenarian. I love helping people to realise their abilities and develop new skills. The 2020 pandemic highlighted to me how important it is for older people to stay connected with family and friends through technology. I don't believe anybody should be frightened of making mistakes or worry about how to use technology. Practising new skills in a safe and supportive environment will allow you to develop confidence and work at your own pace. Nobody is too old to learn something new - I'd love to help guide you on your learning journey! I have a Psychology degree from the University of York, a teaching certificate (PGCE) from the University of Worcester and a Masters in Education from the The University of St Mark and St John, Plymouth. I spent 12 years teaching and tutoring Psychology before realising that I could also use these skills to help people stay connected through using technology. Tutoring basic technology skills has proved to be so rewarding. Please drop me a line if you'd like a chat about how I might be able to help you too.

Please note: I'm unable to accept new regular bookings at the moment. I have availability for ad hoc lessons only. Lessons can be tailored to your needs, my patient and positive approach will ensure that you are confident in using technology in a way that suits you. My tutees often focus on learning to keep in touch with friends and family using WhatsApp and other messaging services, or using apps to order groceries, manage online accounts and contact businesses. I have 12 years' experience of teaching Psychology to teenagers and adults and more recent experience as tutor to adult learners. Please get in touch if you have specific learning requests and I'll let you know if I can help. Lessons can be booked for 30, 45 or 60 minutes and can be delivered face to face (Portishead based) or online.

I worked with Rachel and she is just fantastic. She is the most organised and hard working teacher I’ve ever come across. She goes above and beyond for her students. I am an 88 year old woman and find it difficult to go shopping. I never thought I would be able to do shopping online, but Rachel encouraged me and with her help I am able to do so.
