About Michael
Michael is an experienced and dedicated piano teacher who has taught people of all abilities and ages from complete beginners to grade 8 and beyond. He believes passionately in helping those who want to learn achieve a deeper appreciation of music. The best way to do this is, of course, to learn to play an instrument. He has been playing and performing piano for over 20 years and has also won local competitions. He is also a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians as well as a friend of the European Piano Teachers' Association.

My lessons are tailored to the student's individual abilities, interests and goals. Everyone is different, so he adapts my lessons to suit their needs. I can help you pass ABRSM exams, improve technique and fluency, or, if you prefer, simply play for the joy of playing. All my lessons will feature three key pillars: - Improving sight-reading skills. This aids enjoyment in playing by making it easier for the Student to learn new music, and faster. - Practical musicianship. This involves fun but also useful finger drills and exercises which make the physical aspect of playing easier. - Music theory. I believe that a Pianist will always be incomplete without a knowledge of theory. Theory, in my lessons, is integrated into the process of learning pieces of music, as practice and theory are two sides of the same coin. The most important thing of course is that you are able to enjoy playing! My job is to facilitate that enjoyment.

Michael is an excellent teacher. He is very patient and works hard to overcome hurdles. My son was having a lot of problems but started to make some real progress after the teacher was able to break down the difficulties in a way he could understand.
