About Ya'ceen

Hello! I’m Ya’ceen, I am very excited to be able to spread my love of piano to your child! My background playing piano started at around 4 years old, but didn’t get serious until I was in middle school. During middle school I began studying/playing piano more consistently. As I continue to progress with my studies I am also inspired to teach what I have learned. I am fully committed to supplying a structured learning environment for your child, and helping them reach their full piano potential during their instruction. I strive to adapt to your child’s learning style, and develop their skill at a speed that is comfortable, so they understand the information that is being presented to them!

About the lesson

I think it’s best to meet with the child first before we have a lesson, so that we can get a vibe of each other. In my opinion, if a student doesn’t like their teacher or doesn’t like the way they teach, it can be hard for the student to learn! I try to focus on the experience of the lesson, a child won’t remember necessarily what you say as much as how you make them feel. My goal is to make them feel comfortable and open to learning. I try to make my lessons fun and engaging, so the child is learning even if we aren’t sitting down and playing the piano vigorously. My lesson plan: Since the student I’ll be teaching is a beginner, I’ll start with the basics. I’m big on letting the student develop at whatever speed they need to, and try my best to adapt to a teaching style that will help the student thrive! - A typical lesson plan would start with a small warmup exercise to help with tension release. - We would review the material we went over in the last lesson, to see if they understand - I would Introduce a new concept or new material depending on how fast or slow the student might be learning. - I would have the student practice possibly something new or something already reviewed with guidance and feedback from me! - Games are fun no matter how old you are! I’d try to incorporate a music game into my lesson to keep the student engaged and interested. - We would review the key points of the lesson, and possibly end the session with a small assignment!
