About Ken

Hi, I’m Ken, a pianist and music educator with over 20 years of playing experience. I hold an ATCL Diploma in Piano Performance from Trinity College London and a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Music) from the University of Auckland.

My goal is to make piano lessons supportive, enjoyable, and genuinely rewarding. Whether you’re a complete beginner, learning for leisure, or preparing for formal exams, I tailor lessons to your goals, interests, and level—helping you build confidence while developing strong musical and technical foundations.

My experience goes beyond traditional classical training. I also run a music YouTube channel featuring my own piano covers, which has reached over 10 million views worldwide. This has given me a strong connection to modern music and creativity, which I bring into my teaching to help students engage with music in a way that feels relevant and meaningful.

Alongside teaching, I work as the Piano Specialist at the first Kawai Experience Showroom in Brisbane. I also trained as a Piano Consultant at Steinway Gallery New Zealand, giving me extensive knowledge of pianos and the instruments that bring music to life.

Most importantly, I believe learning piano should be something you look forward to. I’m here to help you make steady progress, discover your musical potential, and enjoy the journey along the way.

About the lesson

Hi, I’m Ken — I believe learning piano should be relaxed, supportive, and fun! My lessons are designed to help each student build confidence while enjoying the process of making music.

I adapt my teaching to suit every student’s goals — whether you’re preparing for exams, exploring your favourite pieces, or learning just for fun. Lessons typically run for 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your level and focus.

With experience in advanced performance and guiding students up to Grade 8+, I combine structured learning with creativity, helping you develop both solid technique and expressive playing.

My lessons are suitable for all ages and skill levels — from beginners discovering the keys for the first time to advanced players refining their artistry.

Let’s make your piano journey enjoyable, rewarding, and uniquely yours!

I've been learning piano from Ken for a few months now, and it's been such a rewarding experience. I've starting to learn The Entertainer and his patients and encouragement in every lesson are next to none. This making every lesson enjoyable, while still challenging me to improve. I'd recommend Ken to anyone who is looking for a quality piano teacher, while trying to grow musically in a supportive and positive environment!
