My personal approach to tutoring piano is to be clear and concise - to make sure my students understand, because if they don’t - I will never know if they’ve learnt anything. I will consistently check in with my students during tutoring and make sure they can demonstrate already learnt techniques and occasionally throw them in the deep end to see if they are able to make educated guesses on new subjects. Overall as a tutor I want to make quick progress, and simultaneously see it whilst also checking in to make sure the student keeps up.
