About Hayden
I began playing piano at a young age, inspired by both classical and contemporary music, and pursued a B.Mus in Piano Performance and an M.Mus in Pedagogy. Over 8 years, I have taught learners of various ages and skill levels, focusing on technical mastery, musical expression, and performance confidence. My teaching approach nurtures each student’s individual style while fostering skill development and creativity.
I prioritise student-centred lessons that balance technique, theory, repertoire, improvisation, and performance practice. Lessons are interactive, engaging, and adapted to each learner’s pace and goals. I provide structured feedback, strategies for improvement, and encouragement to build confidence and musical independence.
Beyond teaching, I perform, explore new repertoire, and participate in collaborative projects to bring fresh insights to my students. Witnessing learners transform their playing, gain confidence, and express themselves musically is deeply rewarding. Supporting their artistic and personal growth remains the most fulfilling part of my work as a piano instructor.

Piano lessons are most effective when technical skill, musical understanding, and expressive ability are developed together. I focus on finger independence, scales, sight-reading, dynamics, phrasing, pedalling, and ensemble collaboration. Lessons integrate repertoire study, improvisation, ear training, and performance exercises to ensure students gain both skill and confidence. Each session encourages creativity, technical refinement, and musical expression.
I adapt lesson plans to the student’s abilities and aspirations. Beginners work on posture, finger exercises, simple melodies, basic rhythm, and note reading. Intermediate learners explore scales, articulation, expressive phrasing, sight-reading, and duet performance. Advanced learners refine complex repertoire, interpretive techniques, improvisation, and concert preparation. Constructive feedback, goal-setting, and structured practice ensure measurable progress and mastery over time.
Piano study also enhances creativity, focus, and emotional expression. Students learn to perform confidently both solo and collaboratively, while developing a deeper understanding of musical theory and style. My goal is to guide learners to technical excellence, expressive depth, and a lifelong connection with piano music.
