About Paolo

My name is Paolo, a pianist, arranger and music producer, lucky to be able to share the unique mix of my musical experiences: classical Italian conservatoire training, recording studio assistant for orchestral recording in London, musician and arranger for records and live shows. Proficient in different genres, you pick up your favourite pieces and I’ll give you the right training to play and perform them - be it either for ABRSM classical or jazz exams, or pure personal enjoyment.

LESSONS FOR ADULTS

The short version is: age doesn't matter, and learning as an adult can actually have advantages.

The longer version: learning an instrument at an older age comes with the fear of being late for this. As adults, we are constantly under pressure to perform well - for work, or family - and we can feel inadequate when things don't go the way we want.

Learning the piano is then the perfect activity to challenge this feeling in a safe environment, and for something you love: I'll teach you how to feel at ease with the new and the unknown, and how to solve musical and technical problems in a neutral, effective and non-judgemental way.

With time, you'll play your favourite pieces and tunes, and feel confident to tackle more and more difficult material - you'll have experienced you have the ability to keep improving.

LESSONS FOR TEENAGERS

Learning an instrument is part of a well round education, but it can be difficult to get the most out of it. Music is expensive and time-consuming, so it's important to make sure it's done in a correct, enjoyable and effective way: piano can be something to be enjoyed for a lifetime.

Working as an active musician, I'll teach the boy/girl how to get the most out of the instrument without old unnecessary (and sometimes harmful) concepts, putting in the right amount of theory to help them deepen their understanding of music, and play with more enjoyment.

In addition they'll learn great lessons that apply beyond music: the time and patience to build a skill, deeper concentration, the acceptance of staying with what is not working yet, with the confidence to overcome a new challenge.

Piano will be more natural, interesting and satisfactory - as it should be for the lovers of music.

- reliable and flexible about lesson times
- great at weaving music theory into the lesson by deconstructing pieces so that I can understand it in a ‘real’ way that doesn’t feel dry
- goes at the right pace by checking in with me about what I want to do as well as pushing me to improve skills like rhythm and sight-reading
- super patient with my progress
- lets me pick the music that interests me
