About Emma

I believe that piano is a great communication tool that allows people to express their emotions. Part of the reason I started playing was because the music calmed me and allowed me to focus on something that enabled me to truly feel what I was doing. I am very keen to work with people in order to help build their confidence and learn a new skill. There are many transferable skills that can be taken from learning an instrument. Given I have done this for 11 years I can attest that there is always something more to learn, and you cannot get bored if you are determined to strive to do your best. I have quite a bit of experience in tutoring people, mainly younger children, and a lot of teaching experience through the army cadets organisation.

About the lesson

A typical lesson with me would be very hands-on and engaging. I can adapt my teaching style depending on the needs of the student to better fit them! One lesson would usually last around 45 - 60 minutes to properly allow the student to fully engage and absorb what is being taught to them. I have a grade 7 in piano and I am about to get my grade 8 qualification. I have been playing for 11 years, alongside performing in concerts and playing in a band. These lessons can be for anyone who is a beginner looking to start getting into piano or someone more intermediate. I work well with all kinds of students and can accommodate any special educational needs.

Emma is a kind, reliable and responsible young person with a genuine passion for music and piano. She has excellent patience, a natural ability to explain concepts clearly and a good understanding of how to adapt her teaching to different learning needs. Her approachable manner, strong pedagogical skills and enthusiasm for music would help her create a supportive, engaging and encouraging learning environment. I believe she would make an excellent piano tutor.
