About Dr Phephani
Dr Gumbi holds –a BA degree from-University of Durban-Westville as s well as his - BA (Honors), Masters of Arts (Full research) in Sociolinguistics from-University of Stellenbosch. He holds a Post-graduate Diploma in Education (PGCE)-University of KwaZulu-Natal Edgewood. He also holds a PhD from University of KwaZulu-Natal, Howard, His PhD thesis was written in isZulu. As a former teacher he worked at-Dassenhoek High School, iLanga High school, iMafumfuka High school and also became the HoD before he joined the University of Free State as the pioneer of the isiZulu Discipline, He later joined the isiZulu discipline at Edgewood in 2015 to-date. His teaching and research interests are, Sociolinguistics, Language Planning and Policy, Teaching and Learning in both basic and Higher Education as well as African Indigenous Knowledge Systems
