About Amy
I’m a PhD student at King’s College London, where I’m conducting research into depression. I also did my psychology undergraduate degree at King’s, for which I gained a 1st. Part of the reason I was able to get onto a competitive funded PhD program without a master’s degree was due to my ability to write scientifically. During my PhD, I’ve taught workshops for master’s students and received excellent feedback for my teaching.
I’ve always enjoyed helping my friends with their essays, and they would often send them to me to give feedback on. I know that so many students struggle with knowing how to write, and how to effectively answer essay questions, but it really is simple once you understand the rules. As scientific writing comes intuitively to me, I feel I should try to benefit others by sharing what I know.
I am a native English speaker, and have done all of my schooling in the UK, so I am able to help international students who need the support of someone with perfect English.

Your ability to write high quality scientific essays can make or break your degree. Your writing must be clear, concise, and based on research. Scientific writing also has a specific way of using the English language that does not come naturally to many students.
Our sessions will be based on your current needs - whether it’s identifying weaknesses in your writing, understanding feedback on an essay, or even help with referencing. If you’re simply struggling to formulate your thoughts into sentences, I can help you with that too!
In our first session, we’ll talk about your current degree progress, your academic goals, and what your upcoming deadlines are. I’ll also review a piece of your writing to see where we can make improvements.
