Hello, I'm Dr. Michelle Scott, a professional science tutor with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and over 20 years' teaching experience.

Having spent eight years teaching and leading science in specialist schools for the National Autistic Society, I have extensive, firsthand expertise in supporting neurodiverse learners, including students with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). My approach is rooted in creating a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel safe and confident to ask questions, explore ideas, and achieve their personal best.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and have held senior teaching roles in universities and specialist schools. This background allows me to combine academic rigor with a warm, approachable style to make complex topics simple and accessible.

I specialise in helping students who have lost confidence in their abilities. My tailored lessons are designed to make learning science engaging and positive, helping each student to thrive and rediscover their curiosity.

A Bespoke Approach to Confidence and Success in Science
My passion is helping students who learn differently to find their love for science. With extensive experience in providing expert tuition to learners with specific educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and other SEND requirements, my approach is built on patience and a deep understanding that success isn't just about grades—it’s about building confidence and a love for learning.

My Method:

I provide a highly personalised service that goes beyond traditional teaching. My lessons use a clear, consistent structure to provide a stable and secure learning environment that helps students focus. I go beyond standard methods by incorporating visual aids and digital tools to make complex concepts accessible, and we work on building core academic skills and independent learning. Most importantly, we celebrate every moment of progress, whether it’s mastering a single concept or simply asking a difficult question, to foster a positive mindset.

Your First Lesson: A Collaborative Approach
Prior to our first lesson, I am always happy to have a discussion with you, the parent, to get a better understanding of your child’s specific requirements and any concerns you may have.

In our first session, I will explore your child's current knowledge and identify any areas they may be struggling with. Most importantly, I will discover their unique learning style and preferences to ensure our lessons are both effective and enjoyable. Together, we will establish clear goals and agree on a personalised plan of action that fits your child's needs.

All my lessons are delivered online, flexibly scheduled to suit busy families and international time zones. I also offer intensive short-term programmes and holiday tuition for catch-up, preparation, or starting a new course.
