About Irem

I am a PhD researcher in molecular biology with a strong passion for understanding how living systems work and helping others learn to explore them. Through my own academic journey, I saw how complex scientific topics can feel overwhelming without the right guidance. Teaching allows me to make these subjects clearer, more accessible, and genuinely enjoyable for students. I choose to teach because I believe science becomes powerful when people understand it, not just memorise it. Watching students gain confidence, solve problems independently, and reach goals they once thought were out of reach is deeply rewarding. My aim is to support learners as they build strong foundations, develop curiosity, and grow into thinkers who can use science in their studies, research, and careers

About the lesson

My tutoring style is structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s goals. I focus on understanding from first principles, then strengthening problem-solving skills through guided practice and real scientific examples. With teaching experience in molecular biology, genetics, physiology, statistics, and R programming, I design lessons that simplify complex ideas, link theory to research applications, and develop analytical thinking rather than memorisation. I begin by assessing the student’s current level, identifying gaps, and setting clear learning outcomes. Each session includes explanation, example questions, interactive discussion, and independent tasks to reinforce learning. I adjust pace and depth according to whether the student needs exam preparation, coursework support, coding help, or conceptual understanding. Having supervised undergraduate students and coordinated assessments, I also support revision planning, scientific writing, research methods, and data interpretation. My aim is not only to improve grades, but to help students build confidence and transferable skills they can apply independently in their studies and future research.
