About Emily
I’m a Devon-based surfer, scientist and corporate strategy professional with four degrees spanning science and business, including a BSc in Geography from the University of York, an MRes in Bioscience from the University of Exeter, a PhD in Radiobiology from the University of Plymouth, and an MBA from Warwick Business School.
I currently work in corporate strategy and business planning, but I’ve always loved teaching, research and developing ideas. I previously worked as both a private tutor and lecturer, and enjoy helping students build confidence in their thinking, challenge assumptions and approach problems from different perspectives.
I’m naturally curious and particularly interested in critical thinking, innovation, experimental design and integrating ideas across disciplines. My style is relaxed, friendly and discussion-led rather than rigid or formulaic. I especially enjoy supporting MBA and PhD students with admissions, research development and exploring complex ideas in a collaborative way.
Outside of work, I’m usually surfing, outdoors or diving into new projects and ideas.

With a PhD in Radiobiology, an MBA and experience in corporate strategy, I bring a mix of academic depth, scientific thinking and real-world business experience. Having worked as both a lecturer and private tutor, I enjoy helping students think critically, challenge assumptions and develop ideas with clarity and confidence.
My approach is relaxed, supportive and discussion-led. I particularly enjoy working with MBA and PhD students on admissions, research development, experimental design and complex problem solving. I love interesting ideas, innovative thinking and helping people unlock stronger ways of approaching their work.
