About Abdelrahman

I’m Dr. Abdelrahman Farouk, a PhD holder in Civil Engineering and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Universiti Sains Malaysia. I have published more than 25 research papers, with extensive experience in systematic literature reviews and academic publishing.

I serve as an editor for two journals and a reviewer for more than 25 journals, having reviewed over 100 manuscripts. I am also currently working on more than 30 research papers.

I have previously mentored one Master’s student and one PhD student, and currently mentor more than three PhD students. I have helped more than five students publish their research. These experiences help me understand the challenges students face and explain what supervisors, reviewers and journal editors look for.

I enjoy making research easier to understand through clear explanations, patient guidance and useful feedback. My aim is to help you build confidence and develop skills you can use independently.

I also run Paper Pilot with Dr. Farouk on YouTube, sharing practical research and publishing tips. To celebrate reaching 100 subscribers, I will give three researchers an additional FREE 30-minute individual systematic review coaching session—one session per winner.

About the lesson

I offer personalised, one-to-one guidance for Master’s students, PhD candidates and researchers who need help moving their research forward.

Depending on your needs, we can work on:

• Planning a systematic literature review and defining a clear research question.
• Developing search strategies and deciding which studies to include.
• Understanding screening, data extraction and PRISMA reporting.
• Organising findings and developing a clear discussion.
• Improving the structure, clarity, references and formatting of your own paper.
• Understanding and responding to comments from supervisors or journal reviewers.

Each lesson focuses on your topic, current progress and main difficulties. You can share your questions or relevant draft before the session so we can spend our time on the areas where you need the most support. I explain the reasons behind my suggestions and help you identify practical next steps.

Your first 30-minute lesson is FREE. Every new student can use this session to discuss their goals, experience my teaching approach and receive practical guidance on a specific research challenge.

My standard rate is RM75 per hour. Prices are flexible and can be adjusted according to your needs, the level of support required and the number of sessions. Message me before booking so we can discuss a suitable arrangement.

Lessons are available in English or Arabic.
