I have a background in teaching college/university and high school students in both writing (essays, research) and reading and interpreting literature. I have also worked with ESL learners and am bilingual in Spanish. I cater each lesson to the individual needs of a student. For example, if a student wants to work on improving their grammar and writing to better align with academic voice, we would spend a session learning the differences between passive voice vs. active voice. I would (1) start by explaining the differences between these two types of voice and their associated verbs, (2) then I would provide examples from academic writing sources for us to look at and discuss, (3) next we would look for the use of each (passive & active) in a student's own writing, and (4) we would revise those examples to all be in active voice. What sets me apart? I have 10+ years of experience working as an academic editor and helping writers get published. Therefore, I have an advanced command of the English language and can break down complicated English grammar concepts to make them easy and enjoyable to learn!
