About Alexis

I spent half a decade as a lecturer in English Literature at Brunel University, where I received my PhD. I graduated from the Russell Group-affiliated University of Southampton with a First-Class Bachelor’s Degree and a prize for the best dissertation of my year. I also received a Master’s Degree with Distinction from the same institution. I have been a private tutor since I was a teenager, and have offered my services on Superprof since 2020. I received outstanding feedback from students and colleagues during my time as a lecturer, and have had successful results with my private students since focusing on tuition. I have helped students with dissertations in subjects ranging from nursing and psychology to business studies and international relations. I am also a nationally-published writer whose book reviews have appeared in The Guardian and Prospect Magazine.

About the lesson

As an experienced writer, assessor, and book reviewer, I will come to our first lesson armed with numerous ideas and principles. But before I begin imparting these I will want to get a sense of the project we'll be working on as well as your current routines, methods, and instincts. Over the course of our first session I will gauge your disposition on aspects of thesis and dissertation writing ranging from initial research through the final proofreading before submission. Whether you need help with articulating your ideas, finding the graft and discipline to complete a first draft, or sussing the transformation of a first draft into a final version, I will identify the stage of the process where I can help you the most. I am more than prepared to help with subjects other than English Language and Literature. I can help tighten your work by asking the kind of questions that I know your marker will bring to bear upon the work. In addition to providing continual feedback on the evolution of the project I also offer a proofreading service. If your dissertation or thesis is more-or-less complete and just needs a fresh pair of eyes, I can do that for you.
