About Kerin
As a teaching assistant and instructor at UC Davis, I read and edited literally hundreds of papers. I really try to adapt to a student's goals and learning style, but my method and some helpful feedback seem to be an effective combination. I had an excellent writing teacher years ago who only gave two kinds of editorial comments: 1. This is good because _________ (so do more of it) and 2. This can be improved by doing_________. And I believe this kind of guidance can help you, too.

I am a published author (academic and otherwise) and a newspaper columnist. As a graduate student, I graded hundreds and hundreds of essays. When I taught classes with writing requirements, I developed a step-by-step essay building method, a strong scaffolding on which to develop sound ideas. Also, this helps to refine the expression of ideas to make the writing experience more enriching and satisfying. Many students told me that their class paper was the best essay they had ever written (which made me immensely happy!)
