Personalised German lessons with a relaxed, supportive approach from a native German speaker and experienced teacher!

My wife and I have been learning German with Marlene for two years and have seen a lot of progress over that time. The real value of having Marlene as a tutor is getting into the cultural side of Germany and the little things they say or do that aren't in any textbook. It gives so much more context to what we're learning, and it's been a fantastic bonus! I can't say enough good things about her and her tutoring.

With already a reasonable understanding of the language, I was looking for a teacher who could improve my awful German grammar and increase my vocabulary.

Marlene has really helped me to become a much better German speaker (and writer). She has improved my German exponentially compared to other tutors I have had.

She is very patient and gracious, even though I make the same mistakes repeatedly. Eventually I got it....

She listens to what I say and how I write the language and structures her lessons around where the gaps are. For example, she has helped me enormously with how sentences are structured in German, and the placement of verbs, as well as how to speak in the future and conditional tenses (still works in progress, but I am confident I will get there).

More recently, in this COVID world, our lessons are online. Whilst I initially had reservations about this, the classes are just as good - if not better - than face-to-face.

Now, they are structured around a text book, with listening and comprehension exercises (even videos). All lessons are conducted in German (unless I need a lot of help understanding a concept, whereupon we revert to English). As well as gently and usefully correcting my written work (explaining why things are not right, and how they could be improved) , she will provide extra exercises to help me get the hang of some new grammar formation if the textbook alone isn't doing it for me.

I have made substantial progress under her tutelage.

I cannot wait to go travelling to German speaking places again to try out my new improved language skills on the unsuspecting public!

I recommend her unreservedly, should you wish to learn a new language or to expand your current knowledge of German.
