About Leo

I started playing guitar when I was 14 years old. My Dad bought my brother and I a couple of Argos acoustic guitars. They were far too big and the strings were so far off the fretboard that they were barely playable. Nevertheless I was hooked instantly. I used to spend hours on (concealed information) hunting down the chords and tabs for my favourite songs and learning how to play them. It didn't take me long before I started getting into some of the more serious players, playing at pubs and clubs in my local area and writing my own music. Things started to take off when I went to university in 2014 and started rubbing shoulders with people my own age and I started playing in bands and trios around the London scene. Since leaving university I have started my career as a professional musician playing weddings, birthdays, care homes as well as gigging with my own band and working as a session guitarist on other artists' tracks. I've been extremely fortunate in the amount of guitar that I've been able to play over the last 11 years, however I made a lot of mistakes along the way which I feel would have been avoidable if I'd had someone to help me along the way; a teacher perhaps. So here's what I can offer you. I have over 10 years of real playing and performing experience in a number of styles and would love to share your musical journey with you and give you all the tricks, tips and advice that I wish that someone had given me when I started out. I don't believe any of us ever truly master a musical instrument, but if, like me, you find yourself in need of advice, direction, or you just want to learn some cool riffs and licks on the guitar, bass or ukulele, then I look forward to hearing from you :)

About the lesson

I teach one-to-one lessons which are tailored to your needs. If you want to learn guitar solos and improvising, there's no point learning to strum four chord songs. Similarly, if all you want to be able to do is play a few songs at parties with your friends, there's no point learning a load of scales and musical theory you're not going to apply! With each lesson you also get personalised Google Drive with a lesson summary of everything we’ve been through tabbed out as well as personalised videos covering everything we’ve been through in the lesson for you to refer to between each time we see each other so you won’t be left alone all week trying to remember everything!

Leo is a friendly approachable tutor who always takes time to explain the music to you and take it at your own pace. Willing to play the music that interests you. The videos he sends after the lesson are also a great help.

He is really able to explain and 'unlock' complicated concepts in simple, approachable ways - I've learned more with him than I have in many years previously.

He is a very calm, welcoming person to learn with and is always happy to adapt lessons to your particular interests/areas of development.
