About Jillian
Violinist Jillian Yang’s pursuit of excellence in music began early on, and she obtained her ARCT diploma from the renowned Royal Conservatory Music School before embarking on further studies. She then honed her skills at the University of Western Ontario, where she earned her Master's of Music in Performance and Literature under the guidance of Annette-Barbara Vogel. During her time there, she took the stage as a soloist and performed the Paganini Violin Concerto with the Western Symphony Orchestra. She’s now pursuing her doctoral degree in music at Western University. Currently, she is also Principal Second violin at Summerhill Orchestra in Toronto. As a soloist, Jillian is a prizewinner of the Maritsa Brookes Concerto Competition and the London Music Scholarship Competition. Her performances have taken her around the world, and she has played with the National Academy Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra of Canada, Magisterra Soloists, London Symphonia, Round Top Festival Institute, Vancouver Symphony Orchestral Institute (VSOIW), Marrowstone Festival Institute, and the esteemed Accademia Europea Dell'Opera in Italy. Not only a passionate performer, Jillian Yang is also deeply dedicated to teaching. She has shared her knowledge and expertise as a teacher at various institutions, including Forest City Strings School Summer Camp, the Canadian Youth Chamber Orchestra, and Western University. Her joy in working with students of all ages and backgrounds is evident in the progress and enthusiasm her students consistently display. Jillian is an Advanced Specialist with the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM), guiding her students to achieve remarkable milestones. Her students regularly participate in RCM exams and local festivals, earning commendable recognition for their talent and hard work. In March 2024, five of her students had the distinct honor of performing at the prestigious Carnegie Hall during the winners' recital, a testament to her dedication as an educator.

Whether you're a beginner looking to build a solid foundation or an advanced student preparing for high-level performance, I tailor each lesson to suit your individual needs and aspirations. My approach balances technical training with artistic expression, helping students refine their tone, musicality, and stage presence. Beyond just playing the notes, I emphasize understanding the music, developing confidence in performance, and setting clear, achievable goals for long-term progress. Lessons are available both in-person and online, with flexible scheduling to accommodate students' needs.
