About Sophia
Graduating with an Artist Diploma in Music Performance from the Eastman School of Music provided the technical foundation for my 4 years of experience as a guitar instructor. Sitting in a quiet practice room for hours, I learned how to balance rigid technique with the raw joy of playing music.
My work focuses on supporting performance-focused students and kids who need clear direction. I guide self-taught players toward better habits by emphasizing accurate TAB READING and SHEET MUSIC literacy.
Each student is different, so I observe their hands closely to correct posture and acoustic technique. Watching a student gain confidence within a single term remains the highlight of my work. My goal is to ensure you feel ready to walk onto a stage and perform with total assurance.

Struggling with barre chords or complex scales often makes a guitarist feel stuck in their progress. I admit that I struggled with these same finger-stretching maneuvers when I first started learning the guitar myself. My lessons integrate songwriting, power chords, and maintenance checks to build a balanced skill set. Because I hold an Artist Diploma, I bring a high level of academic rigor to every technical exercise we cover.
I provide a practice module with every lesson to keep momentum high between our scheduled meetings. These resources help you solidify your progress so that you do not lose your rhythm. I look forward to seeing your musical growth as we work together on your specific repertoire.
