About My Lessons

My lessons are designed for all levels, from total beginners who have never spoken a word of Filipino to heritage learners and expats looking to refine their fluency. I utilize a communicative and immersive approach, prioritizing real-world speaking confidence over rigid, mechanical memorization.

A typical 60-minute lesson is broken down into structured, high-impact segments:

• First 10 minutes: Friendly conversation or a review quiz to warm up your speaking muscles.
• Next 25 minutes: Interactive core lesson focusing on essential grammar, verb affixes (um-, mag-, ma-), or daily vocabulary.
• Next 20 minutes: Practical, real-life roleplays and immersive situational dialogues (e.g., ordering food, ordering a ride, or chatting with relatives).
• Final 5 minutes: Immediate constructive feedback, error correction, and a summary of your actionable homework.

What sets me apart is that I do not just teach formal textbook grammar; I teach conversational Tagalog infused with cultural nuances, slang, and idioms that you will actually hear on the streets of Manila. I provide all custom learning materials for free, creating a completely safe, low-pressure space where you can make mistakes and progress rapidly at your own natural pace.
