About
Hi, I'm Mitchell Miralaie, a 1755-rated tournament chess player based in Cerritos. I've been playing chess since I was 6 years old. I love the game of chess and sharing the game with children and adults who want to learn.
I specialize in complete beginners and young players who know the moves but want to actually get good. My lessons are fun and structured — no boring lectures. Kids learn through puzzles, mini-games, and playing real games with me, and I send parents a quick progress note after each session.

Lessons are 60 minutes, in person (Cerritos and nearby) or online via Lichess and video call. A typical lesson:
• Warm-up puzzles matched to your child's level
• One new idea per lesson (tactics, checkmates, opening basics)
• Play and review together so it sticks
I keep it encouraging and pressure-free — the goal is a kid who loves chess and keeps improving!
