About Lyndsay
Hello, my name is Lyndsay, and I am a dedicated B.Ed Foundation Phase student teacher with a passion for helping young learners succeed. I specialize in Afrikaans, English, Mathematics, and Life Skills for Grades 1–3. I am proficient in both Afrikaans and English and can confidently teach in either language.
My teaching style is structured, patient, and learner-centered. I align my lessons with the CAPS curriculum while adapting to each learner’s individual needs. I focus on building strong foundations in literacy and numeracy and creating a calm, supportive environment where learners feel confident to ask questions and grow.
I am committed to professionalism, thorough preparation, and helping each learner reach their full potential.

As a B.Ed Foundation Phase student teacher, my approach to private tutoring is learner-centred, supportive, and confidence-building. I believe that every child learns differently, and I adapt my teaching style to suit each learner’s pace, personality, and academic needs. My goal is not only to improve marks, but to help learners truly understand their work and feel confident in their abilities.
I specialise in Foundation Phase subjects, including Afrikaans, English, Mathematics, and Life Skills. I am proficient in both Afrikaans and English and can comfortably teach in either language. This allows me to support learners who are learning in their home language as well as those learning in a second language.
My methodology combines structure with creativity. I use CAPS-aligned content, practical examples, interactive activities, and age-appropriate games to keep lessons engaging and meaningful. I particularly enjoy working with learners who need extra patience and movement-based learning, including learners who struggle with concentration or confidence. I break work down into manageable steps and provide continuous encouragement and positive reinforcement.
In a typical lesson, students can expect:
• A short revision of previous work
• Clear explanation of new concepts
• Guided practice with support
• Independent practice to build confidence
• Constructive feedback and goal setting
My lessons are aimed at Foundation Phase learners (Grades 1–3) who need extra support, enrichment, exam preparation, homework assistance, or help strengthening their literacy and numeracy skills. I also support learners who experience barriers to learning and require a calm, structured, and patient teaching approach.
Above all, I strive to create a safe learning space where children feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing academically and personally.
