About Kate

I’ve been teaching guitar for more than 7 years and hold a Bachelor of Music in Studio Music and Jazz, Guitar Principal. I teach Electric, Acoustic, Classical, and Bass Guitar, specializing in media composition. Lessons focus on atmospheric textures, thematic development, and sound design. Students learn to work with digital audio workstations (DAWs) to integrate guitar into film and game projects. I follow a student-centered approach, tailoring each lesson to youth and adult learners. Sessions cover melody, harmony, rhythm, and expressive phrasing. Students practice layering guitar parts and blending them with other instruments. I guide them in composing motifs, cues, and textures for storytelling. Creativity, experimentation, and problem-solving are encouraged. Lessons include practical exercises in performing and recording music. Students gain confidence in integrating guitar with electronic and orchestral elements. Exercises strengthen technique and musical expression. Lessons are hands-on and focused on real-world applications. Students develop skills to compose, perform, and interpret cinematic music. I emphasize stylistic awareness, tone shaping, and musical storytelling. Each session is personalized and engaging. My goal is to help students bring cinematic and gaming worlds to life through guitar.

About the lesson

I teach guitar with a strong focus on ear training and aural skills. Students learn interval recognition, melodic dictation, and transcribing songs. I work with The Campfire Strummer and The Blues Seeker to provide exercises suited to their goals. Lessons emphasize picking out melodies, chord progressions, and rhythmic patterns by ear. I combine listening exercises with hands-on guitar practice. Students also practice singing exercises, call-and-response, and improvisation. I focus on recognizing harmonic structures, phrasing, and musical nuances. Each session is customized to the student’s skill level and learning pace. Exercises strengthen memory, pitch recognition, and aural accuracy. Students are encouraged to practice consistently and engage with music actively. Lessons integrate aural skills with improvisation and composition. Feedback is given to improve accuracy and confidence. Exercises develop both technical ability and musical intuition. Students gain skills to transcribe, perform, and analyze music independently. Lessons are interactive, hands-on, and practical. Students develop confidence in hearing and reproducing melodies and chords. I emphasize the connection between listening, theory, and playing. My goal is to help students unlock musical understanding and play by ear.
