About Shelby

My Name Shelby and a UC Berkeley alumni. I love teaching, and have been doing so since high school. I would often help tutor my peers and relatives in most subjects, not just English, whenever they would need help. I would do my best to try and break down what they were trying to learn into smaller, more digestible pieces of information. I would also often help my teachers create and proofread lesson plans before classes. I have a passion for teaching and love seeing that "aha!" moment in my peers eyes when something finally clicks for them. And it's a two way street as well. Tutoring others also helps be solidify my understand of these subjects as well as helping me understand what works well and what doesn't, in regards to tutoring. Every experience is a learning experience, so let's take to opportunity to learn together!

About the lesson

Hello! Thank you for displaying interest in my tutoring sessions! With my help, you'll be able to:
-Accurately analyze and break down different literary texts
-Learn the different steps of the writing process and how to navigate them
-Learn to be concise and convincing with your arguments and explanations
English Literature and Writing is all about analysis and understanding of literary texts, and my goal is to help others get a firm grasp as to what that means and how to apply it. Lessons with me would be curated to each student, addressing their weaker areas, but also solidifying their strengths. I'm offering my lessons primarily for middle to high school students, but I am willing to teach almost anyone. If you chose me, I promise you won't regret it. Looking forward to hearing from you!
