About Dana (Danuta)

I am a dedicated cello teacher and performer with over 9 years of teaching experience, offering a wealth of knowledge in both performance and instruction. As a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, I’ve had the privilege of studying with distinguished musicians and performing in a wide variety of settings. I enjoy teaching students of all ages and levels, from young children to adults, helping them develop their musical skills and confidence.

My musical journey began at the age of 11, and I have studied with inspiring teachers such as Patricia Hair, Ruth Beauchamp, Aleksei Kiseliov, David Watkin, Alison Wells, and Martin Storey. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to perform in numerous recitals, chamber music ensembles, and orchestras. I have won several competitions, including the Edinburgh Festival Concerto Competition, where I had the honor of performing Shostakovich's Cello Concerto with the Meadows Chamber Orchestra.

I’ve also been fortunate to collaborate with renowned musicians, including the Brodsky Quartet and Hebrides Ensemble, and participate in public masterclasses with world-class cellists like Steven Isserlis, Philip Higham, David Geringas, Narek Hakhnazaryan, Alice Neary, Hannah Roberts, and Chris Hoyle. These experiences have greatly enriched my playing and teaching approach.

With 9 years of teaching experience, I am passionate about helping students achieve their musical goals, whether they're preparing for performances, exams, or simply learning for the joy of music. I tailor my lessons to suit each individual’s needs, ensuring that the learning process is both enjoyable and rewarding. I believe that music is a lifelong journey, and I’m excited to help students of all ages and levels embark on their own musical paths.

About the lesson

I believe that a genuine passion for music is the most important quality to share with my students, as it forms the foundation for lifelong musical growth. I strive to inspire and nurture this passion in every student, helping them develop not only technical skills but also a deep love for music.

My teaching approach is flexible and tailored to each student's individual needs and goals. Whether they choose to follow the ABRSM system or another method, I adapt my lessons to ensure they feel supported and challenged in a way that works best for them. I believe in fostering a positive and enjoyable learning environment, where students feel encouraged to explore their musical potential.
