About Davis
With a Bachelors of Arts (BA) degree and Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCSE), I am a lecturer and tutor committed to teaching and learning whilst embedding unconditional positive regard.
Practical, first-hand engagement over several years, supporting learners progress in achieving their academic goals and targets in maths, English, and completion of assignment briefs, whilst supporting them realise their holistic aspirations where possible; has enabled me to acquire a tremendous amount of invaluable knowledge and experience.
I derive great satisfaction in being able to teach and support learners beginning with building mutual trust and respect, then encouraging nurturing, effectively motivating and inspiring to take ownership of their learning journey. My student's success leaves me feeling triumphant and confirms to me that my choice of teaching as a career, was not misplaced.
Providing 1-1 academic and holistic additional learning support to an access student diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and self-harm, for them to be able to succeed on their college course and gain university entrance to study mental health; will undoubtedly continue to stand out as one of the major highpoints in my professional teaching career.

As each student is an individual, my approach is to prepare differentiated lesson plans that are learner-focused and learner-driven.
Gaining learner's trust and confidence in me and in themselves by establishing a rapport, I have found, works as an excellent premise from which to get my students to buy into their learning and progression.
I have experience working with students who may simply be finding it challenging to keep up with their classmates, as well as those who may display Specific Learning Difficulties.
I seek to establish not so much what a learner already knows, but more so what they do not know, as a basis from which to plan and structure teaching and learning for progression.
My satisfaction and sense of accomplishment come only on the back of my learner's success and achievement.
